Eventbrite Alternatives in Canada: Fees and Features Compared

Eventbrite is the name everyone knows, but its fees add up fast on Canadian events. Here's how the main alternatives compare on cost, features and fit, using each platform's published pricing.

The short version

  • Bloom Tickets: flat $0.75 per ticket, every feature included, built around repeat guests. Canada only.
  • Showpass: Canadian, with a low Essential plan and a Professional plan for seating, add-ons and tracking links.
  • Ticket Tailor: flat per-ticket pricing that gets cheaper if you prepay for credits.
  • Humanitix: percentage plus $0.99 per ticket, with profits going to charity.
  • Luma: great for free community events; 5% on paid tickets unless you subscribe.
  • Eventbrite: the biggest marketplace, and the highest fees on this list.

Fees on a $50 ticket

All figures are in Canadian dollars from each platform's published pricing (October 2026), for one $50 ticket with the fees absorbed by the organizer.

Card processing is about 2.9% + $0.30 for Bloom, Ticket Tailor (via Stripe) and Showpass. Eventbrite charges 2.9% on the full order instead. Tax on platform fees is extra on every platform. See our guide to ticketing fees in Canada for how these add up on bigger orders.

Bloom Tickets

Best for: Canadian organizers running events again and again: club nights, markets, workshops, community and fundraising events.

Pricing: $0.75 per paid ticket. No monthly fees, setup costs or contracts. Free events are free. 3% on add-ons. Registered nonprofits get a 20% rebate on Bloom's fees.

What stands out:

Trade-offs: Canada only. No reserved seating charts or waitlists. Discovery comes from your own audience plus free LampPost listings in supported cities, not a giant marketplace.

Showpass

Best for: venues and larger operations that need reserved seating, memberships or on-site hardware.

Pricing: Essential is 1% + $0.59 per paid item; Professional is 2.5% + $1.69; larger organizations can get custom pricing. Card processing is 2.9% + $0.30 per paid item on top. No monthly fee.

What stands out: Canadian company pricing in CAD. Professional adds assigned seating maps, ticket packages, tracking links, add-ons and waitlists. The custom tier adds memberships, group sales, buy-now-pay-later and on-site hardware.

Trade-offs: several features many organizers expect, like tracking links and add-ons, are on Professional, which costs nearly three times Essential per ticket. Read our full Bloom vs Showpass comparison or Eventbrite vs Showpass.

Ticket Tailor

Best for: organizers who want a simple flat-fee checkout and sell enough to prepay for credits.

Pricing: $1.00 CAD per ticket on pay-as-you-go. Prepaid credit packs bring that down, as low as about $0.40 at the largest volumes. Up to 5,000 free tickets a year at no charge. Registered charities get a discount. Card processing goes through your own Stripe, Square or PayPal account.

What stands out: flat, predictable pricing; you keep control of payouts through your own processor. See Bloom vs Ticket Tailor.

Trade-offs: it's a UK company, so support runs on UK hours. Removing Ticket Tailor branding and using your own domain is a paid monthly add-on. The cheapest rates need money up front.

Humanitix

Best for: organizers who want their ticket fees to support charity.

Pricing: 2.1% + $0.99 per paid ticket in Canada plus Stripe processing; nonprofits can get 1% + $0.99. Free tickets are free. Buyers pay the fee by default.

What stands out: a not-for-profit model where profits fund education projects.

Trade-offs: the $0.99 base alone is more than Bloom's whole fee. See Bloom vs Humanitix.

Luma

Best for: free community, tech and networking events that need approvals and waitlists.

Pricing: free events are free. Paid tickets carry a 5% platform fee on the free plan, or 0% on Luma Plus at US$59 a month billed annually. Prices are all-in, so fees can't be passed to buyers.

Trade-offs: collecting tax is a Plus feature, which matters if you're GST/HST registered. See Bloom vs Luma.

Eventbrite

Best for: events that depend on marketplace discovery, or that need reserved seating charts and a large-company feature set.

Pricing: 3.5% + C$1.29 per paid ticket plus 2.9% processing on the total order. Buyers pay by default; you can absorb fees instead. Free events are free. At-the-door card sales through the Organizer app are C$1 per paid ticket plus 2.9% processing.

Trade-offs: the highest per-ticket cost here, and it climbs with your ticket price. Your event page sits on a marketplace alongside other organizers' events. More in Bloom vs Eventbrite.

Switching from Eventbrite

  1. Finish what's on sale. Keep current events where they are and start new ones on the new platform.
  2. Export your attendee list from Eventbrite so you can tell past guests where to find you next. Respect their email consent: see our email marketing guide.
  3. Update your links: Instagram bio, website, Linktree. On Bloom, your host page is one link that always shows what's next.
  4. Announce the move with your next event, not a separate "we've switched" message. People care about the event, not the platform.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest Eventbrite alternative in Canada?

For a typical paid event, Bloom's flat $0.75 per ticket is among the lowest platform fees that need no prepayment or plan. Ticket Tailor can be cheaper per ticket if you prepay for large credit packs. Registered nonprofits get a 20% rebate on Bloom's fees.

Is there a Canadian alternative to Eventbrite?

Yes. Bloom Tickets and Showpass are both Canadian ticketing platforms that price in Canadian dollars.

How much does Eventbrite charge in Canada?

Eventbrite's published Canadian fees are 3.5% + C$1.29 per paid ticket, plus a 2.9% payment processing fee on the total order. On a $50 ticket that's about $4.49 in fees if you absorb them. Free events have no fees.

When should I stay on Eventbrite?

If you rely on Eventbrite's marketplace to find most of your buyers, or need features like reserved seating charts, its higher fees may be worth it. If most of your buyers come from your own audience and social channels, you're paying for discovery you aren't using.
